How many of us have stood, for hours at a stretch, just staring in awe at the intricate stone inlay work on the walls of old palaces? We have wondered how the artisans were able to shape pieces of rock and stone to create the kind of walls of marble you see at the Taj Mahal or even the inner rooms of forts of Amer and Mehrangarh. Even today, if you walk through the old part of Jaipur, you will get to see such work; you will be able to touch it and get a sense of the immense talent that existed centuries ago.
In an effort to pay homage to all those artisans and their art and talent, we bring to you Mudran – our brand new spring summer collection, which brings back to life those inlay work designs. One look at any outfit from this collection and you will be reminded of all those trips to the by-lanes of Jaipur. The base colours have been kept as simple as possible, so that the work can speak loud and clear! The base colours include off white, the lightest shades of green and grey and pink, and the prints are in darker colours, reminiscent of the colours you would find in the real inlay works.
We are confident that the modern Indian woman, who wants to stay in touch with her traditional side, will love this collection. There are plenty of kurtas, kurtis and dresses to choose from; additionally, there are kurtas that are coordinated with both printed and block printed bottoms, such as skirts and palazzos, kurtas with jackets and floral printed dupattas.
